How You Can Help

Volunteers having a walk with the visually handicapped

The Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) needs volunteers / donors to support and assist in its various programmes and activities for vision impaired persons.

We also appreciate individuals who would like to come forward to offer their skills to organize specific activities. For example, if you are a hair stylist, then you can volunteer your skills to cut our beneficiaries hair. Or if you are good at music, you may want to conduct a music class.

We need your help to enable the visually handicapped persons to lead a more meaningful and independent life.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Be a volunteer van driver – for special events and outings.
(minimum 2 years driving experience required.)
  • Provide Tuition language, computer skills, Primary or Secondary level.
    (minimum 3-6 months commitment)
  • Assist in activities for the elderly. Ability to speak Mandarin or dialect preferred.
Every Monday morning (9am to 2pm)
  • Arts & Crafts teaching or assisting in classes
    Every Monday (10am to 4pm).
  • Computer data entry / proof reading (to transcribe printed text into Braille for our visually handicapped students)
  • Ad hoc Projects
Provide transport/accompany less mobile clients for SAVH activities/medical appointments (may take place during working hours)
    Recreational Activities (indoor and outdoor)
    Fund raising
    charity events
    administrative support
  • Tour guide to visually impaired foreign visitors

There are so many ways you can volunteer your time or expertise, just give us a call to find out how you can help make another person’s life more meaningful.
