Revision in fees charge forLow Vision Clinic Consultation

For many years our Low Vision Clinic (LVC) has been offering ‘free-of-charge’ services to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. This was then made possible with the full funding from the National Council of Social Services. (NCSS).  However, funding today from NCSS is no longer on full funding basis.

Donations are extremely hard to come by these days, made more difficult with the past problems that the Association was faced with. Unlike other Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO), SAVH is now left with no Reserves and is operating on a month-to-month basis. It is with this in mind that the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) is left with no choice but to levy fees to help us continue with the services provided by the LVC.

Our new structured fees are still much lower compared to what hospitals are charging. We will continue to depend on the support from the public for funding. We assure you that the fees we collect from you will never be enough to fund our operations. Our LVC is the only one in Singapore. Apart from the hospitals we provide vision friendly, affordable services and minimises problems associated with in making an appointments with the hospitals.  We also aim to raise the quality and standard of our services at LVC. LVC is staffed by qualified contract Optometrists and volunteer Ophthalmologists from government and private hospitals.

We thank you for your kind understanding on this subject. We assure you that you will receive quality and specialise services from us in SAVH. If you are in financial difficulty and cannot afford to pay the fee, please refer to our Social Work Department who will assist you in getting subsidise fee, based on Means Testing.

The new fees will be effective from 1 November 2007. If you need any clarification, please contact the Executive Director at 6251-4331 Extension 111. We also welcome donations.
