It is a best selling suspense thriller. Political speechwriter Becca Matlock was at the top of her professional game, working for the re-election campain of New York's popular governor, when she received the first phone call telling her to stop sleeping with the governor or he'll kill him. Though Becca wasn't sleeping with the governor, the menacing ultimatums persisted. The police stopped believing her, even after the stalker murdered an innocent person to prove his point.
When the governor was shot in the neck, Becca fled for the safety of coastal Maine, choosing to hide not only from the stalker but also from the authorities. For Sanctuary, she went to Riptide. There she found herself even at greater danger.
